Cleaning our fruits and veggies from the store is important. Toxins are found on many products we buy in the market and are not good for our bodies. Organic options are not always available and if they are often carry a higher price tag. We should know how wash all our produce properly and have a healthy option. Recommended methods The ok method: At the very least wash all your produce with clean cold water! Letting the water run through your produce without scrubbing can reduce almost all bacteria and up to 63% of pesticides. A good method: We generally have vinegar around the kitchen. Use 5% distilled white vinegar and mix with water (1:10 ratio) and let your fruits and veggies soak for about 15 minutes. Quickly rinse after. This method will reduce up to 85% of bacteria and pesticides. A better method: Use some baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and mix about a half tablespoonful with water and soak your produce for about 15 minutes and rinse off with water afterwards. This solution can eliminate up to 90-95% of pesticides, bacteria and wax coating. The best way: Add some charcoal with baking soda, vinegar and water together for the most thorough method; activated charcoal powder is well-known as an pesticide absorbing agent. Mix 1 tablespoonful with baking soda, vinegar and water to help absorb even more toxins. This method can also keep your produce stay fresher and longer.
