Cooling and Heating Fruits

We see a lot of kinds of fruits, locally and imported. How do we choose which fruit to eat to promote our overall health and to gain the most vitamins for this heated season?

Natural medicine has categorized fruits into 2 groups: fruits with cooling effects and those with heating effects. Help balance your body by choosing the fruits with effects that suit you. For summer time, we recommend to eat more cooling-fruits that will make you feel cool from inside.

Fruits with cooling effect: are generally fruits with little or no sugar and low calories and include fruits like mangosteen, cantaloupe, watermelon, apple, pineapple, kiwi, strawberry, roseapple, grapefruits, berries, cherry, peach banana (namwa type), chinese pear, green mango, and green papaya.

Fruits with heating effect: are generally fruits with a lot of sugar and high calories like ripe mango, durian, grapes, longan, lychee, rambutan, ripe jackfruit, ripe banana, western-type bananas, ripe papaya, orange, passion fruit, red pomegranate, sweet tamarind, guava as well as any kind of fruits that are processed through baking, steaming, grilling, boiling, frying or sun-drying.

If your body is heated, choose to eat fruits with cooling effects and the fruits will help to balance, promote body health and cure.
